The Fowler Period Collection

What's new
At the moment everything is new. We will use this space in the future to keep you informed of new developments to the site and to the Fowler Period Collection. If you would like to be kept informed of these developments by email, please register <here>.
We are still evaluating the possibility of launching a free "blog" dealing with the world of the Fowler Period Collection and fly fishing in general. For those of you who don't know what a blog is, it's a type of on line journal to which subscribers may contribute if they choose. I'd love some <feedback> on this one.
Please note that we are in the final stages of preparing to offer custom high quality prints of Jim's photographs. The sale of these prints will go to help pay for the maintenance of this site.To this end we have created a store front on eBay.
We are in the same position with regard to the release of the Atlantic salmon DVD which will also be listed in the store. This is much more than a made for TV documentary. I think of it as a poem. As one official of the Grand Cascapedia Society was heard to say at its premier, "This is really what it is all about." We will continue to offer the low resolution version as a free download and the higher resolution for at a $5 download fee.
History
Jim and I first met and became friends on the Grand Cascapedia River on Quebec's Gaspe Peninsula several years ago. We share in common a love of fly fishing and the good fortune to have fished between the two of us on five of the World's continents. Jim is also an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared in a variety of publications. Fortunately for the rest of us, he documented many of his trips.
Jim's family for generations has been in the art and antiques markets under the name of The Period Galleries. Hence the name for this site. Jim also has put together personally an excellent collection of vintage and classic fly reels and vintage gut eyed Atlantic salmon flies. It was our mutual desire to bring all this material to a wider audience that led to the decision earlier this year to create this site. Please enjoy. We welcome all comments and suggestions.
